Grocery runs are not as difficult when someone provides a thorough list.

And when the cats do not attempt to wind between X's legs as she comes in the front door.

Fortunately for everyone, maybe, they are easily distracted by Elle's presence.

X will thank her later.

Possibly by not making her clean up the kitchen.

Elle nods - it's a small movement, and she doesn't say anything.

"Is it almost done?"

X flicks a glance back at the stove, then the timer, then nods.

"Yes."

Beat.

"You can mash them when I am done. If you want. There is a mixer."

But first they need to be strained.

Water is not a key component.

This, however, will not take long at all.

Unlike before, Elle manages to to not look enthusiastic about this.

She just answers, "Yeah." And moves to find the mixer and its beaters among X's cupboards. At least she won't have to strain to find an outlet, too.

Her shoulder might also bump X's in the process. It happens.

X may bump into Elle when she's transferring the mashed potatoes into a container for transport to Mr. Simmons' apartment.

Sometimes that happens, too.
