The kitten intro
After more immediate business is taken care of -- hauling Ramon to the infirmary and leaving a note about his forthcoming arrest in the Security office -- X heads back out to the stables. She has a site report to give, which means gathering more data on the series of actions that led to Ramon shooting up the stables and running to the forest.
The blood is the easiest indicator to follow, and the bullets embedded in the walls and floor are not easily mistaken, either. X-23 cannot recreate a perfect map of the action, but she has a very good idea of how it went down. Now, if only Kate and her companion would come back --
mew
The sound is startling, and X makes her way toward it, nostrils flaring as she catches the scent of cat and the missing couple, both. The packs are clearly discarded, and no doubt intended to accompany Kate and Doc to Colorado. X frowns slightly, flicking a glance toward the paddock door as if to check whether or not anyone has made their way back through.
But it stays closed --
mew
-- and X drops to crouch by the bags, studying the movement inside one of the flaps.
One kitten has made its way into that space, while a second appears to be busy attacking one of the leather ties keeping everything shut.
Oh.
This will be problematic.
Hopefully neither tiny cat will attempt to eat X's fish.
Maybe Mr. Simmons will have some advice.
She does, however, remember to leave the bags with Bar on her way back to San Francisco. It is accompanied with a note for Bill. Just in case.
(Today was a bad day to have run out of tuna.)
