It's an ordinary day. X wakes up, does her early morning loop around the neighborhood, and stops for breakfast at the diner. It is Pam's shift. Then she makes her way to Greymalkin Industries for training with her former teammates, as well as a meeting with Logan and James about their progress.
She and Cessily and Sooraya are stepping outside to get pizza for lunch when the first Skrull ships start appearing in the sky.
After that it gets a lot more chaotic. They are teleporting from location to location, intercepting the invader's patrols and sending them packing. Pixie is their assigned 'transport', and she is not afraid to use her soul dagger. X is--pleased is not the right word, but it helps. A lot.
But eventually the Skrull, initially caught flat-footed by the presence of the X-men in a city that was not their reported location, get themselves put back together. Not even Miss Frost breaking their psi-shield keeps them from implementing their new strategy.
They round up people. Thousands of them. And they put them in several different buildings spread across the city. And then they train their ships' complement of weapons on them. They will fire if the X-men do not surrender.
This is unacceptable. But the X-men are not stupid. And neither is X. She has her own part of the plan to contribute. And that is why, while the infiltration teams are being assembled and briefed on how best to neutralize the Skrull guards and release the prisoners, X slips off on her own.
It is not hard to find a door to Milliways. This time, she is very glad.
