Sometimes these things just happen
Lilly is X's boss. So is Inara.
They are not like anyone at the Mansion.
They are not like anyone in the Facility, either.
And so far, they are really not like anyone that X met in New York.
This is a good thing. Even if X does not entirely trust it yet.
This is why, when she is shown Lilly's note saying 'hi sorry i'm ditching again but if you need help i say promote Joe she's around a lot and weirdly responsible anyway i have to go bye!', she does not flinch.
She just looks at Inara, looks at her new list of responsibilities, and says, "Okay."
It is easier to keep an eye on the state of things from the inside, anyway.
X has learned to be good at worrying.
And Lilly is her friend. She will help where she can.
It is what she knows how to do.
