X's eyes are clenched tightly shut, even as she half-turns to face somewhere between Elle and Thor.
It seems like that would be easier.
But it is not.
She takes a slow, careful breath, hands flexing and relaxing to make sure -- this one last time -- that they are still
hers
.
(The scar on her left hand is resolutely not burning.)
Then she turns to face Elle fully, gaze flicking up to where Bruce and Norman are standing.
Norman, who is so terribly dangerous, but only and always on his own terms.
X takes a second breath, gaze dropping to fix on Elle.
She is so,
so
frightened, but --
"Now."
It is less a command than a plea.
