Scene from X-23: Innocence Lost
Oct. 31st, 2007 09:58 pm21:33
The door closes behind her, the noise of a crowded bar giving way to the noise of a rally.
A rally for Senator Greg Johnson, soon to be President of the United States.
Or he would, if X-23 were not here today.
But she is. Now what she needs is a way to blend in. The cleaning cupboard is down this hallway here, and inside--
20:35
The leg braces chafe, but the long-term damage won't be, quite frankly. Her healing factor is good for something, at least.
And her sense of smell is even better for this particular assignment. Because it does not take long for her to determine that Senator Johnson is behind the well-guarded doors at the other side of the stage.
Now--how to get in?
18:01
"Excuse me. Can I meet Mr. Johnson?"
X-23 is technically a ten year old girl. At the moment, she looks like a shy, quiet, 10 year old with leg braces, glasses, and two neat braids.
Harder hearts have melted at such a sight. Her high, childish voice only clinches it.
Except that these security agents are actually well-trained.
"I'm sorry, sweetie. But I'm afraid you can't."
Well, that's going to be troublesome.
16:12
X-23 bursts into tears.
Loud, wracking sobs, even.
14:52
X-23 is carried in to meet Senator Johnson.
She is carried in by the Senator's wife.
11:42
X-23, the Senator, his wife, and their two sons line up to take a photo.
11:23
The flash of the camera goes off.
11:21
X-23 leaps out of Mrs. Johnson's arms and kicks the Senator in the chest. Her claws are out.
11:18
Senator Johnson dies. His family notices.
5:02
All 30 members of the Senator's entourage are dead.
3:04
The panicked members of Mr Johnson's security force enter the room. The only person left alive is a traumatized little girl.
In leg braces.
They take her to an ambulance.
She never makes it to the hospital.
Neither does the ambulance staff.
